Luca Cioci is a Los Angeles–based Director of Photography from Pavia, Italy, with a foundation in painting and stop-motion animation that informs a highly visual, story-driven approach to cinematography.

His work combines technical precision with emotionally grounded storytelling, allowing him to execute both visually ambitious and performance-focused projects across narrative and commercial productions.

Luca has worked both at independent scales as well as for major studios, such as Laika, the studio behind a Golden Globe-winning Best Animated Feature. His proficiency in motion control contributed to restoring the Dykstraflex camera, developed for the original Star Wars, and operating its custom motion control rig at the Academy of Motion Pictures.

Luca’s commercial work includes campaigns for brands such as Hermes, Honda, Red Bull, Nationwide, Mattel and Adult Swim.

His recent narrative work has screened at major festivals including Sundance and SXSW.

Luca is experienced in both digital and analog film workflows.

He is a member of the Television Academy, ASIFA-Hollywood, and International Cinematographers Guild Local 600.
