Luca Cioci is an Italian Director of Photography based in Los Angeles whose background in painting and stop-motion animation informs a highly visual, story-driven approach to cinematography. His work balances technical precision with emotional authenticity, allowing him to move fluidly between visually ambitious concepts and performance-driven storytelling across narrative and commercial productions.

Luca holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute and a BFA in Experimental Animation from CalArts. His experience spans independent productions and major studios, including LAIKA, the acclaimed animation studio behind the Golden Globe–winning Best Animated Feature. His expertise in motion control also led him to contribute to the restoration of the Dykstraflex camera, originally developed for Star Wars, and to operate its custom motion-control rig at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

His commercial work includes campaigns for Hermès, Honda, Red Bull, Nationwide, Mattel, and Adult Swim. His narrative work has screened at major film festivals including Sundance and SXSW.

Equally comfortable with digital and analog film workflows, Luca brings a hands-on, technically informed approach to every project, with a focus on creating images that serve the story.

Luca is a member of the Television Academy, ASIFA-Hollywood, IATSE Local 600 (International Cinematographers Guild), and the ASC Vision Mentorship Program.
